Reflexology in Lockerbie

An unhurried hour in a quiet room, with firm, precise pressure work through the feet. Most people come for one reason: it is deeply relaxing.

What reflexology is

Reflexology is a complementary therapy in which firm, specific pressure is applied to points across the feet. It is not a foot massage, although it shares some of the same pleasure — the technique is more deliberate and works methodically across the whole foot rather than simply kneading it.

Reflexology is a complementary therapy. It is not a medical treatment, and it is not offered here as a treatment for any medical condition. If you have symptoms that concern you, please see your GP.

What a session is like

Settling inA short conversation about how you are and anything you would rather was avoided, then shoes and socks off and comfortable in the chair.
The treatmentForty-five or sixty minutes of steady, methodical pressure work through both feet. Some people talk. Most people stop talking after about ten minutes.
AfterwardsA glass of water and no rush to leave. People commonly describe feeling loose, warm and pleasantly tired, and often sleep well that night.

Alongside foot treatment

Reflexology can be booked entirely on its own — you do not need to be a foot health patient. If you would like it on the same day as routine treatment, ring rather than book online and the diary can be arranged around it.

Common Questions

Reflexology — your questions

Is it just a foot massage?
No. Massage works the soft tissue; reflexology applies precise pressure to specific points and works systematically across the foot. Both feel good — they are different techniques.
Does it tickle?
The pressure used is firm and deliberate rather than light, which is precisely why it doesn't. Ticklish feet are very common and they cope perfectly well.
How will I feel afterwards?
Most people feel relaxed and a little heavy-limbed, and sleep well that night. Drinking a bit more water than usual afterwards is sensible.
How many sessions should I book?
One is fine. If you are using it regularly to unwind, the block of six 60-minute sessions at £250 works out at the price of five.
Is there anyone it isn't suitable for?
Tell Catherine if you are pregnant, having treatment for a serious illness, or have a foot injury or infection, and it will be adapted or postponed as appropriate.
