Routine Foot Care in Lockerbie

Nails trimmed and tidied, hard skin reduced, corns and callus cleared. The regular maintenance that keeps feet comfortable to stand and walk on.

Who routine foot care is for

Most people who come for routine treatment are not dealing with a crisis. They simply want their feet looked after properly, by someone who can see what they are doing and has the right instruments to do it.

  • Toenails that have become thick, hard or difficult to cut
  • Hard skin building up on the heel or ball of the foot
  • Corns that keep coming back in the same spot
  • Reduced reach, reduced flexibility, or eyesight that makes cutting your own nails awkward
  • Anyone on their feet all day who would rather keep small problems small

What happens at your appointment

Your first visitA new patient appointment is 45 minutes. Catherine takes a full medical and foot history, examines the feet including circulation, nerve sensation and skin condition, and then treats. You leave with a plan and an idea of how often you should come back.
Routine visits after thatThirty minutes. Nails cut and filed back to a comfortable shape, hard skin reduced, any corns or callus dealt with, and a check that nothing new has appeared since last time.
How oftenMost people settle into a rhythm of every six to ten weeks. Some need less, a few need more. It is agreed with you rather than imposed.

What is included

Corn and callus work is included in a routine appointment — it is not charged as an extra. If your feet need longer than half an hour, there are 45-minute and 60-minute appointments priced accordingly, so a complicated pair of feet is never rushed into a slot that does not fit them.

Common Questions

Routine Foot Care — your questions

Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. Well Heeled is a private practice and you can book directly, online or by telephone.
What is the difference between a foot health practitioner and a podiatrist?
Foot health practitioners are trained in routine and preventative foot care and are registered with the Register for Foot Health Practitioners (RFHP). Podiatrists are registered with the HCPC and their scope extends further, into areas such as nail surgery and prescribing. Catherine Nelson is RFHP registered (CN68049) and will tell you plainly if something you present with is better seen by a podiatrist or your GP.
Will it hurt?
Routine treatment should not be painful. Instruments are sharp and precise, which is exactly why it is comfortable — most people find it a relief rather than an ordeal.
How often should I come?
Six to ten weeks suits most people. It depends on how quickly your nails grow and how much hard skin you build up, and it is agreed at your first appointment.
Can you see me if I only want my nails cut?
Yes. A 20-minute Short Appointment at £38 covers a single concern such as a nail trim.
